Eva-Marlene Etzel, born in Munich 1989, successfully gained her Master of Arts ‘photographic studies’ degree in 2016 at the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund, Germany.

At a young age, Marlene was greatly influenced by her creative family members, and thus, has always been encouraged to express her artistic passions. Ever since she received her first analog camera in 2004, photography gradually became a big part of her life and eventually manifested into her professional calling.

Over the years, she has been living and working in Munich, Cologne, Dortmund, Hamburg and New York City, USA. She worked in the photography department of QVEST Magazine and NIDO Magazine. Since 2016, she is based in Munich as a freelance photographer, focusing on conceptual fashion and portraiture photography.

Awards

2017 ART DIRECTORS CLUB GERMANY JUNIOR AWARD Bronze Nail for her graduation project “Menschen, die behaupten sich zu lieben” in category craft/photography and exhibition of Artist Edition during ADC Festival at Museum der Arbeit, Hamburg.

2016 UPCOMING MASTERS AWARD held by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGfP) in cooperation with the Leica Kamera AG alongside seven of her fellow master students of the Fh Dortmund. One picture form her M.A. project “Menschen, die behaupten sich zu lieben” was consequently shown in the Leica Gallery at the photokina 2016.

2016 CANON PROFIFOTO FÖRDERPREIS for her work “Die junge Frau im Meer”. Thus one picture was included in the 10-year anniversary exhibition of the award at the photokina 2016.
